Orchidées de mamie, meaning grandmother's orchids in French, is the theme and inspiration for my structure design final project. The orchid is a flower I closely associate with my late grandmother. Besides it being her favorite flower, when I look back to my childhood with her I can't help but remember the orchid garden she kept in my grandparent's backyard and the countless, beautiful orchid arrangements all around the house.

The color pink is a symbolism of nostalgia, taking people back to their childhood, which is why it has become the main color scheme of this piece. The pink lace crochet bodice is the focal point of this piece, this was inspired from crochet lace doilies, another object that often reminds people of the comfort of their grandparents home.
